COMPUSTAR ALARMS & ALARM/STARTERS

If you had a compustar alarm installed by us and you are having problems, you may look below to help solve your issues:

“When I hit lock on the remote, my car locks its doors and the parking lights flash, as well the interior L.E.D. light blinks but there is no chirping sound”

- You have put your vehicle into a silent arming and disarming mode.
- To undo this mode, on your 1 Way Non- Paging remote, If you have same lock and unlock on 1 button on your remote press and release the “LOCK” & “KEY”
- If you have separate lock and unlock buttons press and release “ LOCK” & “UNLOCK”
- To undo this mode, on your 2 Way Paging remote, you may press and release button number 1 & 3.

“When I hit lock on the remote, my car locks it doors but the parking lights don’t flash, and the interior L.E.D. light does not blink as well there is no chirping, and (if applicable) my remote start does not work either”

- You have entered into what is called VALET Mode. It turns off the vehicles security system entirely and only provides keyless entry. This mode is used for bringing your vehicle in for service or when you are loaning your vehicle to someone who is unfamiliar with the alarm and are better off without it active.

“When I try to remote start my vehicle it does not start.” On 2 Way Pagers the Pager will chirp 3 times.

- when you do attempt to remote start and it fails, it will flash your exterior parking lights 3 times then it will flash again a number of times to present you an error code.
Error Codes are listed as follows:
- If it flashes 1 time it may be because the engine is running already
- If it flashes 2 times it may because the key is in the on position already
- If it flashes 3 times it may be because the door is open
- If it flashes 4 times it may be because the trunk is open
- If it flashes 5 times it may be because the foot brake is being pressed
- If it flashes 6 times it may be because the hood pin may be faulty
- If it flashes 7 times it may be because RESERVATION mode was not done properly, this ONLY applies to vehicles that are Manual Transmission

Forgot about reservation mode?! Reservation mode is for Manual Transmission Vehicles with a Compustar remote starter. When exiting the vehicle you must do the following: Pull the E-Brake up, Shift the car into Neutral, make sure your foot is off the brake, take the key out of the ignition (vehicle will remain running), exit the vehicle and close the door, it will then shut off the vehicle and automatically arm itself. Now it is ready for remote start. However if you open any of the doors between the time you have done this “Reservation Mode” and wanting to remote start it, it will cancel the reservation mode and prevent you from starting the vehicle. You will then have to re-do the reservation mode again.

“My battery on my car died and I jumped started the car or I charge my battery back to full and now my alarm doesn’t work”

- Sometimes when you jump start the vehicle it may have sent a surge to the alarm system causing the fuses to blow. Don’t worry, all you have to do is call in and make an appointment with us and we will gladly take care of it for you free of charge (Only if the alarm was originally installed by us).

“I tried to remote start my vehicle but on the 2 Way Pager Remote it indicates that the vehicle is already running”

- Very rarely does this happen, but it may need to be reset. Please call us for an appointment and we will gladly resolve this issue for you.

“My alarm keeps going off randomly, sitting there when nothing is near my vehicle” or “My alarm keeps going off randomly, sitting there when nothing is near my vehicle and on the 2 way pager it indicates a hammer symbol”

- Very rarely this would happen, but it is a manufacturing defect in the impact or “shock sensor” this can be replaced under warranty free of charge. We ask that you call in and make an appointment in advance

“I lost my remote control and I don’t have my spare remote handy and I need to get into my vehicle and be able to start it and disable the alarm”

- In almost absolute every case, we install what is called a starter kill or known as an immobilizer. In this case, if you do not disarm the vehicle, even if you have the keys to the vehicle, it will not start. The following will provide steps to help you do an emergency override so that you can disable the alarm and be able to start the vehicle. What you have to do is open the door with the key, it will sound the alarm. Then you get into the driver seat and put the key in the ignition. You then turn the key to the ON position and then OFF, you do this 5 times fairly quickly and then alarm will stop sounding. This will disable the alarm and starter kill (immobilizer) and place the vehicle into VALET mode. Your vehicles alarm is now temporarily turned off, you cannot turn the alarm system back without a remote controller.

“My car alarm keeps arming by itself right away sometimes within a few seconds, sometimes within a few minutes and I have the non-paging remotes”

- Very rarely does this happen, but it we are aware of it. Your vehicle has hopped into a mode that is non existent to your remote controllers. We would be more than happy to fix this for you under warranty, please call us ahead and book an appointment.

“My car alarm keeps arming by itself when I walk away from the vehicle and disarms itself when I get closer to it and I have the 2 way FM Pager”

- You have turned on the “AUTO” mode. To turn this feature off, if you have the BLUE Pager, HOLD DOWN BUTTON 1 until the marker indicating “AUTO” disappears. If you have the WHITE Pager you must HOLD DOWN BUTTON 1 and then the “Auto” mark indicator flashes, then HOLD DOWN BUTTON 1 again, until this marker disappears.

“When I turn my car off, the alarm chirps and/or flashes the parking lights about every 10 seconds and then on the 30 second mark it locks and arms the vehicle.”

- You have turned on what is called “Passive Arming” On NON-Paging remote controls you can turn this feature off.

If you have the non-paging remotes:

If you have same lock and unlock on 1 button on your remote press and release the “KEY BUTTON” & “TRUNK RELEASE” button together
If you have separate lock and unlock button press and release “UNLOCK” and “TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON”
If you have the paging remotes:

The “PASSIVE” indicator on the screen will be indicated. To turn this feature off press and release buttons “2 & 3“ and the indicator should go away.

“My car remote starts every two hours by itself and runs for 15/25 minutes and then shuts off and continues to do this over and over”

- You have turned on “TIMER” mode. To turn this feature off: If you have same lock and unlock on 1 button on your remote press and release the “KEY BUTTON” & the “ ? “ button. If you have separate lock and unlock buttons press and release “UNLOCK” and “KEY” Button.
